Dear Dr. Jim, What are some ways to build culture when working remotely besides team meetings? - Sandy*
Hi Sandy, My definition of culture is the series of behaviors that are going on within a team or within a company. Now, we have the definition of a culture, but then we have the reality of the culture in terms of the actual behaviors.
One of the things I would do is ask people to send each other, or maybe to a central place everyone can access: "In one sentence please describe our culture."
Another thing to do is to ask people every once in a while (during an online meeting or in a chat) to shoot out to the rest of the team members a "win" they’ve had in the last week, or what’s a challenge I'm having that I would like help with.
It’s the interactions of people sharing and connecting with each other that’s really important.

Vivo Team News!
At Vivo Team, we have a commitment to looking for unique internships, recruiting exceptional new talent and developing their soft skill competencies in house so when (or if) they leave, they are in a much more powerful position than when they arrived.
Vivo Team is currently working with three interns - Colton Chase (Design), Diane Shin (UX), and Hannah Block (Digital Marketing). This is a cornerstone of our culture as it allows our team to grow and flex our own leadership skills while bringing exciting new talent to the table.
